I was hired by a client to shoot a performance video of world renowned DJ Bob Sinclar last week. To give you a little background I spent 2 and half years spending three nights a week doing nightlife photography documenting club goers, DJs and drinking for local promoters. This past summer I decided it was time to focus more on my photojournalism and left the club scene. But not totally, I was still shooting performance videos of some of the biggest DJs in the world for one of my cleints. For a while now I only take my video camera and leaving the SLR at home to focus on one thing at a time. This past shoot I decided to bring my SLR with me and take some still images. I had that feeling when you quit smoking and you take your first hit after months of going without one, it felt so good. I find that I start to memorize how the lights are traveling across the crowd and use the ambient light to get some cool images. I end up using some of the images in my video.
This past week on January 8th, was "the King's" 75th birthday. I am not really a fan but thought it would be cool to put a few images from a recent shoot I did in celebration.
