WKND Magazine: Bryan Voltaggio of Top Chef

Last July I was assigned by The Daily's magazine "WKND" to head up to Frederick, Md, and photograph Chef Bryan Voltaggio, a recent contestant  of Bravo's hit TV show Top Chef and his Oyster Po'Boy sandwich. The Po'Boy was showcased as part of a weekly article that highlighted a secret ingredient that was used in a chef's dish. For this edition, Old Bay seasoning was used. I spent the morning with Voltaggio in and around his restaurant Volt in downtown Frederick.

Two minutes with Julia Brownley

Spending the last five years photographing celebrities and politicians have taught me..your never get the time you are promise and expect things to change in the last second.
A week back I was on assignment for the Ventura County Star to photograph an interview with newly-elected Congresswoman Julia Brownley, who will be representing California's 26th Congressional District.
I arrived to the hotel a few minutes early to figure out a few places where I could shoot some portraits before the interview.  I had my game plan figured out and ready to go. Just seconds before our scheduled time, a staff members of her's informed us that we would be doing the interview in another building of the hotel and she was on a very short time table.  I had just two minutes to get a portrait of her before the interview started.

DC ARGO Premiere for Warner Bros

Last month, I once again had the amazing opportunity to work for Warner Bros. documenting their DC premiere of ARGO working along side Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman. I also got to see Jennifer Garner again, who I have worked with during a Save the Children foundation shoot a few years back. A week later, I had a chance to see ARGO and highly recommend it.

Back from the war zone of NY Fashion Week

I just returned this past weekend from New York covering Fashion Week for ten days. I look forward to it each year, allowing me to get out of D.C. from the day to day hustle of covering celebrities and politicians inside the hallways of Capitol Hill. I have finally got around and selected a few of my favorite images.

Adaptive rowing story

This past weekend, I relaunched a story I have been working off and on for the last year on adaptive rowing in the Washington DC area. How it allows people with disabilities to participate in a competitive sport and get out on the water.

I was a fashion photographer in my past life...

As photojournalists...we are never given any control of the situation that is placed in front of us. As a fashion photographer you are given a lot of control and to have this control was amazing. But one thing that you never have control of is the weather.

DC Fashion Week

As many people focus only on the political side of DC, I find myself wanting to document the other parts of this city that few know about. The music, the fashion, and the culture. So this year I decided to do a personal project on DC fashion week and this is what I came up with.

What DC has a Fashion Week!?!?!?!!?

When I told a couple of my friends that I am working on a project showing the contrast between politics and fashion in DC. One of the things I would be covering as part of my story, is DC Fashion week...everyone of them was surprise that DC has a fashion week.
